Tasting - Gougenheim Torrontes 2012
Photo:
Name: Gougenheim Torrontes
Variety: torrontes
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2012
Price: $9.95
Shop/wine critic/winery review:
The 2012 Torrontes comes from Chilecito in La Rioja. It has a light floral nose with touches of lemon peel and nectarine. The palate is crisp and taut, showing far more vivacity and fruit that the nose implied, finishing with a flourish of apricot and white peach. Drink now
My Review:
This wine has a pale honeyed-gold color and a pleasant honey, floral, and citrusy (lemon specifically) nose. Upon tasting, this wine has a nice solid body, nice acidity, and a nice lasting finish. This wine is crisp, tart, and bitter at the start, but carries flavors of peaches and peach blossoms on the finish. This wine is actually quite refreshing. 79-80/100
