Tasting - Canyon Road Pinot Noir 2012
Photo:
Name: Canyon Road Pinot Noir
Variety: Pinot Noir
Region: California
Country: USA
Year: 2012
Price: $6.95
Shop/wine critic/winery review:
Rich, fruit forward cherry flavors, soft tannins, a medium body and a smooth velvety finish. Pairs well with creamy soups, salmon, and savory pork dishes.
My Review:
This wine presents a nice crimson color. On the nose, there are notes of alcohol and red fruit jam (specifically strawberry and raspberry). Upon tasting, this wine has a lovely body (smooth but tangible and not overbearing) and light tannins. There are also notes of oakiness/smokiness that are again present but not overwhelming. This leads to a fruity/smokey lasting finish that's quite nice. There are hints of cherry but more raspberry in the flavor. Honestly, this is quite a lovely little wine all around and at $6.95, it's a steal. 83-84/100
